Employee Hiring Policy

ABTU selects personnel who meet high standards of character, education, and occupational qualifications, which can help ABTU advance the goals of skills, knowledge, and education for its students. Prospective and potential personnel should also possess academic qualifications of unquestionable merit, the capacity for growth, and the ability to become a viable part of the organization. All employees and applicants for employment shall be considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, or veteran status.

All employees hired must comply with all institutional and educational policies and procedures established by ABTU, its Board of Directors, and other authorized directives.

ABTU performs the following procedures during the hiring process:

  1. All educational references are checked.
  2. All transcripts are examined.
  3. All references are checked.
  4. A background check is performed.
  5. Former employers are contacted.
  6. A drug screen is performed, if applicable.

Qualifications for employment at ABTU are as follows:

  • All Support Staff

All employees must have, at minimum, a high school diploma or GED or equivalent, ability to pass a random drug screening, and have no criminal convictions. Certain positions may require a higher level of education.

  • Administrative Staff

Administrative level staff must possess at minimum a Bachelor’s degree, be able to pass a random drug screenings, and have no criminal convictions. Experience in higher education, and sound computer skills are preferred.

  • Admissions Staff

All employees must have, at minimum, a high school diploma or GED or equivalent, ability to pass a random drug screening, and have no criminal convictions. Certain positions may require a higher level of education.

ABTU strives to fill each opening with the most qualified candidate and either promotes from within the organization and/or hires outside candidates at the sole discretion of ABTU.
