General Education Requirements

General education courses are a core component of a collegiate curriculum, which allows students to be exposed to a variety of subjects.   The diverse and complex workplace into which students enter after their formal education requires general familiarity with an increasing broad range of subjects. General Education courses are incorporated into ABTU degree programs.  General Education courses assure mastery in academic knowledge and skills essential to success in their degree and career.  Academic knowledge and skills in the General Education courses encompass writing, communication, information technology, mathematics, and in the areas of social science, natural science, and the arts and humanities

Students enrolled in an AAS degree must complete 15 credit hours of general education courses or 30 credit hours in the bachelors degree.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree (15 hours)

  • Six (6) credit hours in Information Technology
  • Three (3) credit hours in English
  • Three (3) credit hours in Mathematics
  • Three (3) credit hours in Natural/Social Science

Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree (30 hours)

  • Six (6) credit hours in Information Technology
  • Six (6) credit hours in English
  • Six (6) credit hours in Mathematics
  • Three (3) credit hours in Natural/Social Science
  • Nine (9) credit hours in General Education electives
